HTC announced the release of the Deluxe Audio Strap during the CES 2017 in Las Vegas. It is an accessory designed to provide better audio experience for the Vive VR headset. Since the release of the HTC Vive VR headset, it requires a separate pair of headphones after you have the headset on, which is considered quite a flaw to the product.
Well, this year, HTC finally release a combination of headphones with the headset, the Deluxe Audio Strap, which acts as a slot-in replacement for the original headset. The new design is now more adjustable, meaning that it has adjustable integrated headphones. The headphones are connected to the Vive’s on-board audio jack, giving a more immersive VR experience.
“We’ve continuously improved the core Vive experience, making it more comfortable and easier to use,” said Daniel O’Brien of HTC’s Vive, according to Road to VR. “The Deluxe Audio Strap evolves this mission further, offering a seamless audio solution that also fits more comfortably for Vive users.”
The Vive Tracker is a newly developed hardware that enables motion tracking for the factors in the VR world. It measures 99.65 mm (diameter) x 42.27 mm (height) and weighs around 85 grams. The Vive Tracker is able to integrate and applied to different objects in the VR world, such as weapons, baseball gloves, cameras, etc., to ensure developers and consumers will have a single accessory to unlock thousands of new experiences.
According to Engadget, HTC didn’t say much regarding the headstrap’s included headphones, but they seem to be removable, so you can still use your own headphones if the audio isn’t to your liking. The Deluxe Audio Strap is expected to start shipping in the second quarter of 2017, but the price is still not publicized.
